So my year ended with a car accident, a wrecked toe, and a cattle stampede. No, it’s not the setup for a joke, as far as I know. But the new year is young, so . . .
The car was totaled, sandwiched between a speeding Toyota 4×4 pickup and an immovable Mercedes SUV. They were nice people, all. We stood on the side of the highway beside our crumpled, leaking vehicles and talked until the police cruiser leisurely arrived. Only minor injuries and indignities.
The toe, a separate non-vehicular accident with a step, still really hurts and the doctor says it will for a few more weeks. The x-rays show it’s not broken but I think they lie, possibly switched in a nefarious medical scam. Continued indignities foreseen.
The herd of black cows escaped on a dark, rainy night on a fast Ozark highway beside my brother’s house. I was second on the scene and used all of my cowboy wisdom, gathered from years of watching John Wayne movies, to generally further spook the already freaked out cows just looking for a quiet field in which to nap.
Still, everyone survived all incidents. Sure, my wife now calls me Hop-along, but hey, Cassidy was a cowboy, right?
I hope this isn’t an indication of how 2022 will go, but it could be worse. We could have 2021 over again. I’ll go wash my mouth out with soap now.
The Plan
I’m putting my plan into action, albeit with a slight limp. The plan was always to pray, attempt, and adjust, so I’m still within parameters. Part of that is to give you “Blogress Reports” here and this is the first.
Mrs. Standing and I are busy changing out our tech stack to pioneer our way into the alternative internet economy spawned by Big Tech tyranny and censorship. The beginning of anything this big and new is guaranteed to be an adventure. We are discovering our way ahead.
There might be stampedes.
The latest one seems to be people moving to GETTR thanks to a couple of electric posts by Joe Rogan and various doctors. We have personally found it to be the most welcoming and easy to navigate alternative media site to date. You can follow us here.
I’m working on a series of articles on New Tech and will update you soon. I’ve been butting my head up against it for a while and hope to give you some practical info. We need to learn to do this part well.
The Website
Expect steady changes, rather than a wholesale redesign. I will try things and watch how they work for you. Incremental improvements are how we sent men to the moon.
Look out for subscription and email improvements as well as layout changes. We’re working with some new companies to roll out things soon.
There will also be a way to contact us and give us feedback. We will need your suggestions this year.
Something Different
We’re looking to do something different to help you through these nutty times. We will try not to be just another redundant opinion or news site. There’s lots of room for Christian conservative creatives in the expanding digital land of New Tech. We’re hoping to be of assistance.
Plus there are long-term plans to add staff soon so that we can pound our dreams and thoughts into reality.
Great fun ahead. Thanks for checking in.
Keep On Standing,
Dennis Ritchie
